Our History

New & Experienced.

Flex Pack is a new company, but we’re certainly not new to packaging. Our work builds on 30+ years of passion, service and expertise.

1953

Valley Packaging Supply was founded in Green Bay, WI. VPS primarily produced cellophane and poly bags and slowly grew out of the owner’s basement and into the second story of a hay barn.

1990

VPS invested in high speed machinery and diversified into new packaging formats including stand up pouches and multi-layer bags.

1992

Precision Color Graphics in Franklin, WI was founded to offer prepress services to the industry. They would later expand into graphic design, 3D rendering, and more in its 25,000 square foot facility.

2000

VPS built a brand new 65,000 square foot facility in Green Bay to accommodate rapid growth and additional machines. They would eventually add on to the building three more times and grow its footprint to 185,000 square feet with over 40 production lines.

2006

Phoenix Converting was founded in Itasca, IL with medical packaging being a key end market. It grew into a second facility in 2010 to add slitting and laminating capabilities with a total of 110,000 square feet of manufacturing and converting space.

2014

Specialty Packaging Technologies was born in Elgin, IL as an extension of Precision Color Graphics to provide pouching as part of their flexible packaging supply chain services.

2016

American Pouch Converters was founded in Cleburne, Texas and quickly became a frontrunner in the child-resistant packaging movement.

2018

Valley Packaging Supply and Phoenix Converting became the first two companies to launch a new flexible packaging consortium called Advanced Converting Works (ACW).

2019

Precision Color Graphics and its sister company, Specialty Packaging Technologies, joined the ACW family. American Pouch Converters also joined and moved its operation to Illinois.

2021-2022

The ACW family adds Bag Pack, Inc. and Flexible Packaging Specialties. ACW is now North America’s largest producer of specialty pouches with 100+ production lines and over 250 teammates. Our diverse supply chain services distinguish us as a comprehensive packaging solutions provider.
