Job Summary
The hands-on Maintenance Manager is primarily responsible for directing the team of Maintenance Technicians, in order to best support the production team, through machine repair, maintenance, and improvement, as well as process troubleshooting.
This position will be based in Itasca, IL.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure health / safety policies are complied with.
- Responsible for team safety, through training and inspections of the work environment.
- Daily planning and execution of production support priorities as communicated by Plant Manager.
- Communicate with Production Supervisors as to priorities throughout the day when available resources cannot meet Production demand.
- Oversee team of Maintenance Technicians in daily work, including machine repair, preventative maintenance, work order completion, project work, upgrades and machine improvements, and facilities maintenance.
- Manage and be the administrator for work orders, preventative maintenance system, and special projects as required.
- Allocate workload and supervise upkeep staff.
- Ensure that designated buildings, plant, and facilities are fit for purpose and to provide proactive support/solutions when required
- Safely maintain, repair, and troubleshoot complex equipment and other high speed manufacturing equipment
- Perform repairs on electrical instruments of production equipment as needed
- Read/interpret equipment manuals and work orders
- Install electrical wiring systems to handle required loads for equipment
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance and analyze equipment and systems in order to facilitate continuous improvements
- Schedule and perform corrective maintenance activities in response to maintenance work requests
- Troubleshoot equipment as necessary, working with equipment owners and vendors
- Maintain operation of utility equipment such as compressors and water systems
- Coordinate with Production and Scheduling to get machine time for PMs and work orders.
Competency or Position Requirements:
- 10+ years’ experience in maintenance management role
- Strong knowledge of engineering concepts, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Strong working knowledge of 480v and 240v
- Experience in planning maintenance operations
- Hands-on experience required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong accountability record and the ability to take initiative
