Job Summary

 

Essential Functions:

 

  • Process Improvement
    • Perform hands on direct support of production floor and machines, assisting with day-to-day performance and problem solving while learning and gaining insight on how to improve processes the operators perform.
    • Support daily production priorities, troubleshooting, and escalation of process and machine issues, eliminating roadblocks for critical production runs.
    • Verify production goals are accurate and achievable as well as identify improvements to attain higher rates.
    • Own training of production staff on critical processes and equipment changes.
    • Lead lean and continuous improvement teams (VSM, Kaizen, 5s, etc.) overseeing all projects for the plant.
    • Facilitate and train others on Lean Daily Management (LDM) processes and help maintain LDM KPIs.
  • Engineering
    • Lead Engineering and technical teams including direct reports
    • Support safety continuous improvement
    • Drive process optimization and automation initiatives for the site, including reducing setup time through Single Minute Exchange of Dies (SMED) processes and techniques.
    • Oversee selection/installation/qualification of new equipment
    • Oversee tooling design, machining, maintenance and repair parts management and procurement.
  • Product Development
    • Coordinate and prepare product samples for bids/RFPs, sales, and customer requests.
    • Work closely with the CSR, Sales Rep, Product Development (PD) or Customer to design/develop robust product specifications.
    • Review, verify and revise product specifications for repeat orders to ensure specification accuracy.
    • Design and develop corresponding work instructions (WI’s) that align with the product specifications.  Ensure that the product specification and WI’s are included with the job jacket and embedded in the job routing.
    • Create dimensional CAD drawings to support product specifications.
  • Maintenance
    • Oversee all plant maintenance and facilities leading a team of direct report maintenance technicians and support personnel.
    • Improve machine reliability and uptime, while reducing costs and waste throughout the facility and grounds.
  • Safety
    • Participate in safety committee and help drive safety improvement projects.
    • Own electrical safety and LOTO program, 5s, machine guarding, and any other equipment or facility related aspects of the plant safety program.
  • General
    • Own ERP and data systems support and reporting as well as backup Plant Manager on all IT and data systems. Oversee installation and maintenance of ERP hardware, and building security/alarm systems.
    • Partner with other Flex Pack plants in technical teams to standardize and implement best practices for safety, quality, waste, output, and profitability. Travel as needed to support and collaborate with other plants as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor of Science or Graduate’s degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of leadership experience.
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles a must, green or black belt certification preferred.
  • Flexible packaging experience preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with teams and people at all levels of an organization.
  • Knowledgeable in MS Office programs including Teams, AutoCAD, statistical analysis tools, and ERP systems. Radius ERP and SQL database experience beneficial.
  • Experience with automation and troubleshooting electro-mechanical systems beneficial.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills and dedication to quality/regulatory and continuous improvement.
