Job Details:

  • Full Time – Hourly
  • 1st Shift      8am – 4pm (Monday – Friday)
  • Starting pay:  $20.00 per hour

 

Basic Job Duties:

The Material Handler is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack and count product. The Material Handler is also responsible to prep material prior to use and move peripheral change-over equipment to and from machines as well as preparing finished product for shipment and loading trucks.

  • Assist Operators and Back Tender prepping material prior to use (unwrapping pallets, tipping large heavy rolls, prepping zipper, mount rolls on carts)
  • Bring properly tagged rolls to and from QA staging and hold areas – Organize QA areas
  • Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards, covering open rolls with roll covers to prevent contamination
  • Straighten crushed cores using appropriate tools/equipment
  • Accurately scan materials to racking, floor location, or machine location
  • Manage recycling by loading full Gaylord’s, assisting set-up and replacement Gaylord’s, as well as core carts, recycled zipper spool and palletized corrugate
  • Stage recycle pallets in warehouse neat and orderly for shipment – work with Facilities Manager
  • Operate a shrink wrapper to wrap finished product on pallet according to the customer’s specifications or best practices
  • Clear center aisle and wrap as needed so staging area is clear by shifts end
  • Verify that all cartons are labeled, and information matches the packing list and bill of lading
  • Ensure pallet counts are accurate reporting any discrepancies
  • Attach shipping labels and packing list to the pallets according to the customer’s specifications or best practices and segregate by freight company
  • Use a forklift to load trucks and perform trailer inspections
  • After trailer inspection, properly load/ship finished product using forklift when necessary
  • Stage used pallets in warehouse neat and orderly, and assist in loading recycle pallet trailer
  • Accurately scan materials to racking, floor location, or machine location
  • Other duties / special assignments as requested by the Production Manager
  • Operate within the Standard Operating Procedures and food safety standards
  • Ensure a clean and safe work environment
  • Follow all safety procedures with regard to operating a forklift and handling the dock locks and dock door systems

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • One (1) to three (3) years of  experience in Shipping & Receiving required
